The three northernmost towns in Angus are ideally situated for fishing the Rivers North Esk, Westwater, Loch Lee, the lower reaches of the South Esk and beach fishing on the coast. The rivers are noted for excellent salmon and sea trout fishing from February till October. Glen Esk is a particularly beautiful area and quite unspoilt. |

River North Esk
|
Glenesk, The River North Esk
The River North Esk is a first class Salmon River, draining almost 290 square miles, with brown and sea trout also present. the river rises high in the Grampians to flow from Glen Esk to the sea at Montrose, a distance of 30 miles. It has long been recognised as one of the most prolific salmon rivers, for its size, in Scotland. The Loups beat on the burn water is one, which has always enticed anglers, and fishing can be very productive. The pools are all signed.
